FOUNDER & LEAD TRAINER
Defying the Odds Fitness
Robert Harrison is the proud founder and Lead Trainer of Defying the Odds Fitness. Committed to supporting at-risk youth, Robert uses physical fitness to help young people set positive goals, achieve immediate success, experience positive reinforcement and develop an array of skills applicable to school and life. Robert’s goal is simple: to help young people tap into their personal power to realize their fullest potential. Whether that’s to graduate from high school, earn a college degree or sign a professional sports contract.
Growing up in San Francisco’s Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood, Robert experienced the unique challenges facing kids of color. Persevering through a number of personal hardships, Robert holds the distinguished honor of being the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a BA in Sociology from Notre Dame De Namur University. Robert’s passion for a healthy life style; his experience working with young people in a variety of youth advocate jobs; and his hard-earned credibility are rare. Robert’s own life experience and extensive academic research has taught him that at-risk youth with an active lifestyle cope better with stress, deal more effectively with difficult issues and feel better about themselves overall. This is truly Defying The Odds through physical fitness.
